Breezi Support Information

We’ve put together a guide to answer your important questions with supporting video guides below. If after reading this you still have a question then please do not hesitate to get in touch

General questions

  • To choose the model of Breezi chair for the end user, you need to measure the height of the table they will be using.
  • Measuring the highest and lowest point of the tabletop is important for both functionality and lower limb clearance.
  • Teezi Chair seat plates can be positioned from 12 to 44 cm (4.7″ to 17”) from the ground.
  • Breezi Chair seat plates can be positioned from 14 to 55 cm (5.5″ to 21.5”) from the ground.
  • Breezi Max Chair seat plates can be positioned from 14 to 69cm (5.5″ to 27”) from the ground.
  • You will then need to consider the seat plate depth, whether you require a hybrid chair, and what accessories you’ll need.

A Hybrid option is designed to accommodate different user types that do not fit into the standard configuration of a Teezi, Breezi or a Max. For example, if the end user needs to access a low table, but requires more seat width, you could specify a Teezi frame with Breezi plates and accessories.

The Breezi chair components as standard are: frame (Teezi, Breezi, Max), seat and foot plates, standard back rails, and fixings.

Optional accessories can be added depending on the postural needs of the user.

Yes, we can create a ‘step ladder’ effect with a transfer step and/or additional foot plates. For increased stability, it may be advisable to order stabilising skis and consider deeper foot plates to give better foot placement when accessing the chair.

The Max frame would be recommended for this scenario, for maximum stability. Hybrid options are available where you can have a narrower width and taller frame (Teezi width, Max height).

The Breezi range of chairs come with a 10 year warranty on manufacturer’s faults, the Breezi accessories come with a 2 year warranty, and the Bodypoint range of belts come with a lifetime warranty on manufacturer’s faults.

Pelvic positioning belts

No, you can order the chair with or without a belt. If using a lap belt, you will need to order slotted seat plates to fit the belt in the correct position. A lap belt is required if the chair also has a trunk harness fitted. If you are using a lap belt, and require a seat pad (with or without a pre-ischial ridge), you will need to order the half-cushion version

The pelvic positioning belt is a postural aid that may be required to maintain a good pelvic position and where the user might be inclined to slide forward/ sit sacrally /extend. The belt can be used in conjunction with a seat pad and pre-ischial ridge cushion.

Your Breezi Chair can be specified with a slotted seat plate to accommodate such a support solution. We offer a range of belts for better pelvic positioning.

If you select a Breezi with a lap belt, the Bodypoint Swivel Buckle comes as a default option. Any of the Bodypoint range of belts can be fitted to the Breezi chair, with the additional security and reduced access buckle covers if needed.

Seat/foot plates

Breezi seat plates are available with or without lap belt slots. Additional slots are required to fit thigh pads. If you order a chair with the lap belt and/or thigh pads, these slots come as standard. If you are ordering new accessories for an existing chair, you will need to check whether the existing seat plate is slotted.

This would be decided on the assessment of the end user. Seat and foot plate sizes state the deepest achievable depth. The larger plates allow for growth, and you can adjust this as the child grows.

It is important to consider the future growth of the user when selecting the size of the seat plate. It may be worth considering the hybrid option to accommodate future growth requirements.

Use of thigh guides, hip belt, and cornerback will affect the usable seating surface of the seat plate.

Seat width is the space available to your client within the chair, not the overall chair width.

Teezi Chair with a seat plate up to 17” from the ground is as follows:

  • Teezi Chair (Standard) provides a 15” seat width with either 11” or 13” seat depths
  • Teezi Chair (Hybrid) provides a 17” seat width with either 12” or 14” seat depths
  • Teezi Chair (Hybrid) provides an 18” seat width with either 16” or 18” seat depths

Breezi Chair with a seat plate up to 21” from the ground is as follows:

  • Breezi Chair (Hybrid) provides a 15” seat width with either 11” or 13” seat depths
  • Breezi Chair (Standard) provides a 17” seat width with either 12” or 14” seat depths
  • Breezi Chair (Hybrid) provides an 18” seat width with either 16” or 18” seat depths

Breezi Max Chair with a seat plate up to 26” from the ground is as follows:

  • Breezi Max Chair (Hybrid) provides a 15” seat width with either 11” or 13” seat depths
  • Breezi Max Chair (Hybrid) provides a 17” seat width with either 12” or 14” seat depths
  • Breezi Max Chair (Standard) provides an 18” seat width with either 16” or 18” seat depths

Can I upgrade to a deeper seat plate/footplate to fit standard models of chairs that aren’t a hybrid?

Cornerbacks

The cornerback provides an active seating position with lateral prompts, thereby offering additional thoracic support. Chest straps are also available for those with poor core stability to prevent forward leaning of the chest. If you require the inclusion of a cornerback to an existing chair, you will need to drill holes to fit it if one hasn’t previously been fitted, as per provided instructions.

Narrow11.5 cm  (4.5”)31 cm  (12”)22 cm  (8.5”)26 cm  (10”)

Yes, technically you can do this where additional lateral support is not required. A head rest is recommended for behavioural, postural, or intervention reasons.

Yes, the high back pad will need to be fitted to a high back rail for maximum stability.

Pommels

A ‘pommel’ is used to aid leg abduction. A pommel should not be used as a block to prevent forward sliding of the pelvis – this should be achieved through the correct use and positioning of a pelvic belt, ideally in combination with a seat pad and pre-ischial ridge cushion.

Although this can be done, it would reduce the available adjustment of the seat plate. A slot will need to be drilled into the seat plate to fit this.

Other accessories

If you select a Breezi with a lap belt, the Bodypoint Swivel Buckle comes as the default option. Any of the other buckles on the Bodypoint range of belts can be fitted to the Breezi chair, with the additional security and reduced access covers if needed.

You can invert the long thigh pads to provide more support for increased adduction (guiding the user’s legs inwards).

Yes. The high back rail in the lower position would need to be inverted. This is most commonly used with a Max to provide increased lower and upper back support.

You would use castors with the stabilising skis to enable you to move the chair more easily over room thresholds and where carpets are fitted.

We do not advise this type of strap to be used. Instead, if the aim is to stop the user sliding forward, we recommend the correct use and positioning of a pelvic belt, ideally in combination with a seat pad and pre-ischial ridge cushion.

A pelvic positioning belt is a postural aid that may be required to maintain a good pelvic position, for example where the user might be inclined to slide forward/sit sacrally/extend. A belt can be used in conjunction with a seat pad and pre-ischial ridge cushion where the pre-ischial ridge helps to reduce the tendency for the pelvis to slide forward.

Your Breezi Chair can be specified with a slotted seat plate to accommodate such a support solution. We offer a wide range of secondary supports for better pelvic positioning.

You can order a chair with or without a belt. Seat plates come with either unslotted or slotted options, depending on the end user’s positioning needs.

This can be fitted for additional support needs, but does require other accessories such as a high back rail, harness guide straps, or cornerback – and a lap strap. A lap strap is compulsory when fitting a chest harness.
